Air source heat pump and full central heating system installation.

Winter 2024

A 1960’s 5 bedroom detached family home in Derby, ready to go green and benefit from an air source heat pump. The existing system was micro-bore, some of it as small as 6mm pipe. Small bore pipework such as this can be problematic when it comes to retrofitting an air source heat pump. However, thanks to the detailed heat loss survey carried out, we picked this up when considering the system design. On this occasion, the only way forward was a full re-pipe of the central heating system. With correctly sized radiators and pipework, we could guarantee the system performance and many years of trouble free heating. We went one step further with this and chased the pipework into the walls for the ground floor radiators, plastering the chases back in afterwards.

Radiators throughout the property were upgraded to support a maximum design temperature of 45 degrees, even at an outdoor temperature of -3. Thanks to the robust Heat Geek Guarantee, the customer has peace of mind knowing that the system is designed to deliver a minimum SCOP of 3.8 (equivalent to 380% efficiency). As certified Heat Geek affiliates, we stand by our work and guarantee to put things right if the system underperforms.
