Air source heat pump and cylinder to replace a broken down oil boiler.

Winter 2024

This homeowner was looking at a potentially costly oil boiler replacement, having to replace the oil tank as well as the broken down boiler - since the oil tank was not compliant with current regulations. Quotes were in excess of £7000 for the required work and so the choice was an easy one to make. Remove the oil boiler and tank all together, and "Go Green” with a Vaillant Arotherm Plus 7kw heat pump and cylinder.

The heat pump was sited in place of the oil tank, away from the house behind the shed, and the cylinder installed in place of the boiler. No extra space was required for the new installation, but with the added benefits of cheaper bills, better pressure for their hot water and no smelly oil!

Six radiators were replaced to allow a maximum design flow temperature of 48 degrees, at -3 outdoor temperature. The robust Heat Geek guarantee has given the customer peace of mind here, that they can expect a minimum SCOP of 3.6 (efficiency of 360%). If the system under-performs, as Heat Geek Affiliates, we can guarantee we’ll put it right.
